Most developers meet Spring through Boot, which means they meet it with the interesting parts hidden. That works until the first strange bug — a proxy that did not proxy, a bean that existed twice, a @Transactional that silently did nothing — or until an interviewer asks what the container actually does.

This week removes the mystery. You build with plain Spring first, so that when Boot arrives next week you can name everything it is doing on your behalf.
