Fee

Duration
30 guided hours

Designed for

  • Developers who know Java and SQL and want backend depth
  • Freshers targeting Java backend roles at service companies and GCCs
  • Working developers who use Spring Boot but have never learned it properly

Course curriculum

8 progressive modules

Duration: 30 guided hours

  1. Foundation
  2. Intermediate
  3. Advanced
  1. FoundationSessions 1–2

The container, and why Spring exists

    • Inversion of control, and the problem it actually solves
    • Beans, scopes and the bean lifecycle
    • Constructor injection and why field injection is discouraged
    • Component scanning, configuration classes and conditional beans
    • Profiles for local, test and production
    • Auto-configuration and starters — what Boot is doing on your behalf

    What you will build

A service wired three ways — by hand, by field injection and by constructor injection — with the failure modes of the first two demonstrated rather than described.

    Module 1

Learning outcomes

What you will be able to do

  1. 01Explain what Spring's container does for you and what it does not
  2. 02Design REST endpoints whose status codes and methods follow HTTP rather than habit
  3. 03Separate the API from the schema with DTOs and defend the boundary
  4. 04Return one machine-readable error shape across an entire service
View all 8 learning outcomes
  • Map a relational model with JPA and diagnose N+1 from the SQL log
  • Write migrations that make the schema reproducible on any machine
  • Test a service against a real database in a container
  • Publish an OpenAPI document another team can build against

Detailed course information

Full course brief

Most Spring Boot courses stop where the tutorial stops: an entity, a repository, a controller, and a JSON response. The gap employers complain about starts immediately after that — an API that returns 200 for a failure, an entity serialised straight onto the wire, and a query that quietly issues four hundred statements.

This course is built around those failures. You reproduce each one, measure it, then fix it and argue the trade-off.

What makes this different

The database is real. Tests run against PostgreSQL in a container rather than an in-memory substitute, because the bugs worth catching are the ones H2 hides — migrations that do not apply, dialect differences, and locking behaviour.

Who this is for

You need working Java and enough SQL to write a join. If you have neither, Core Java Programming comes first.

Where it leads

This is the backend half of Full-Stack Developer — Java and the second group of Backend Developer — Java.
